Here are our recommendations to get you started:
Hotels:
Inn on the Harbor. http://www.innontheharbor.com/
In the village of Stonington (restaurants, a coffee shop, a couple of art galleries and gift shops), right on the harbor. Most rooms have harbor views, and some are situated right over the harbor itself. Very cute and little. Summer rates in effect: $149 - $174/night
Pilgrim’s Inn. www.pilgrimsinn.com
This hotel is located in the smaller town of Little Deer Isle (coffee shop and art gallery and post office). A little more formal, with a restaurant downstairs. Spring rates in effect: $109-$199/night
Boyce's Motel. www.boycesmotel.com
This small hotel is in the village of Stonington (restaurants, a coffee shop, a couple of art galleries and gift shops), just up the road from the Inn on the Harbor. Summer rates in effect: $69-$110
Goose Cove Lodge. http://www.goosecovelodge.com/default.asp
Goose Cove Lodge has single units and cabins, and a Portuguese restaurant on site. We don't know people who have stayed there, but it might be a good option for people looking for something more remote or rustic. Spring rates in effect. Rooms: $100 - $150; Cabins: $150-$295.
Bed and Breakfasts:
There are a few rooms available at the site where we will probably be hosting our reception: http://edgewoodfarm.com/accommodations.html
In addition, there are lots of other Bed and Breakfasts on the island. Check out these:
The Inn at Ferry Landing: http://www.ferrylanding.com/
Penny’s B&B: http://www.pennys-bnb.com/
Pres du Port: http://www.presduport.com/
Red House B&B: http://www.redhousebedandbath.com/
or google Deer Isle Maine Bed and Breakfasts. Rental Properties:
Rental properties on the island are weekly but may make financial sense for larger groups staying for several nights. Most properties are available for Saturday to Saturday rentals, but Nichole at Downeast Maine Vacation Rentals has graciously offered to help us look for properties that are for rent Sunday to Sunday or possibly even Wednesday to Wednesday. To see what’s available, take a look at their website: http://www.rentalsmaine.com/view-properties. Then please email Nichole directly at rentalsmaine@gmail.com for more information or help booking properties. Let her know that you will be coming to town for our wedding.
If you are unable to find a property there that suits your needs, you can also look at The Island Agency’s website: http://theislandagency.net/vacation-rentals/.
If you’d like help choosing a specific location, don’t hesitate to contact Emily and Adam directly at tynan.emily@gmail.com.
